MARTIN, Tenn. - Purdue Fort Wayne softball dropped a pair of contests on the final day of the Huddle House Classic, falling to Wright State 14-2 and UT Martin 5-2.
GAME 1
In the opening frame, it looked like both teams were going to have a good offensive day, as the score was 2-2 after one inning of play. Madeline Swart started the Mastodons' half with a double into left center. Olivia Stansbury advanced her to third on the subsequent at bat, then Morganne Denny singled up to the middle to bring Swart home. Denny was able to work her way around the bases on a wild pitch and a single from Alaina White. White stole second while Camryn Mosher was at the plate, allowing Denny to steal home.
Wright State opened the floodgates in the second inning, scoring eight. Five doubles and a home run put the game out of reach for the Mastodons from that point.
The Raiders added one in the third inning and three more in the fourth. For the game, Purdue Fort Wayne forced 11 Raiders to be left on base.
Megan Segree was the pitcher of record for Purdue Fort Wayne, falling to 0-2. Olivia Otani got the win for the Mastodons' future league opponent, moving to 1-4 on the season. Wright State improves to 2-6.

This time it was a two-run dinger, bringing Swart home, who got to first on a single up the right side.
