Billiken Spring Tournament Starts a Day Early

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - Purdue Fort Wayne is set to compete in the Billiken Spring Tournament, which will begin a day earlier than originally scheduled. The first games will be played on Wednesday, March 11, with a doubleheader against Saint Louis set to begin at 3 p.m. Forecasted weather prompted the tournament to begin a day early.

Scouting the Billikens
Saint Louis is 6-13 on the season and is coming off a 2-3 outing at The Spring Games. The Billikens defeated Valparaiso 3-2 in nine innings and Niagara 7-2. The Billikens share a common foe with Purdue Fort Wayne in Southern Miss, which SLU beat 5-4 in one contest and fell 9-1 in the other. Sadie Wise is leading the team with a .414 bating average, with 24 hits, six doubles and two home runs. Samantha Ferguson is leading the team in batting average at .349 with 22 hits on the year. Christina Toniolo is 3-6 as the pitcher of record this year with a 3.12 ERA.
Scouting the Mavericks
Omaha is 12-12 on the season as the Mavericks near Summit League play. They are coming off a pair of wins over Utah Valley (12-2) and Northern Iowa (3-1). The Mavs beat Big Ten foe Michigan State earlier this season 4-2. Emily Klosterman has 27 hits this year with a .422 batting average. She has four doubles, a triple and a home run. Sydney Hampton has the best ERA on the team with 5.14, but she holds a record of 10-4.
Scouting the Bisons
Lipscomb is 11-10, with a game to play before coming to the Billiken tournament. The Bisons will play North Carolina on Wednesday. Lipscomb beat Tennessee Tech in their second and third matchups 8-7 and 6-5. The Bisons are led by Presley Leebrick, who is hitting .356 on the year with 21 hits. She also has four doubles and a homer. Megan Gra is pacing Lipscomb from the circle with a 7-1 record and a 2.27 ERA.

The Mastodons joined the Summit League in 2007-08 making the 2019-20 season their 13th in the League.
