Mastodons Set To Compete In Evansville Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne cross country teams travel to Evansville, Ind. to compete in the Evansville Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Mastodons are coming off their best performance of the season at the Live In Lou Classic back on Saturday, Oct. 12. The men's team average time of 25:37 was the best team time in program history. In addition, Andrew Whitinger (25:18.3), Draven Thompson (25:29.9), JT Hodges (25:33.6), and Husam Saleh (25:53.4) all finished with top 10 8K times in program history.
On the women's side, both Madison King and Brooke Neal broke into the top 15 at the Live In Lou Classic. For King, her third-place finish was her best finish of the season. She has finished in the top 10 in all four races she's competed in. In addition, her 5K time of 17:59.8 is a career-best as a Mastodon, and is good for sixth all-time in program history. For Neal, her time of 18:45.9 is her second-fastest 5K time in her Mastodon career. She's also finished in the top 25 in three races this season.
Saturday's race will be the last race before the Mastodons compete in the Horizon League Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Carmel, Ind. The 'Dons ran at the Northview Church Course earlier this season on Friday, Sept. 10 at the IUPUI Jaguar Invite.
