King Placed Third At Live In Lou Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Purdue Fort Wayne student-athlete Madison King finished in third place with a time of 17:59.8 at the Live In Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 2 for the Mastodon women's cross country team.
The finish was King's first top five finish of the season, and her fourth top 10 finish in four races as well. The race had 490 entrants. Her 5K time ranks sixth all time in program history. She surpassed Julie Jeszenszky time of 18:10 that was set in 2012.
Behind King was Brooke Neal in 15th with a time of 18:45.9, Kathy Potter in 81st with a time of 19:43.1, Paige Benecke in 140th with a time of 20:14.1, Makaila Groves in 173rd with a time of 20:35.0, and Mercedes Sarver in 244th with a time of 21:10.9.
As a team, the Mastodons finished in 15th place out of 55 teams in the Blue Race with 411 points. They out-ran Horizon League foe Wight State, they finished in 16th place. Grand Valley State won the blue race with 94 points.
On Friday, Oct. 1, a group of runners competed in the Huntington Invitational in Huntington, Ind. Aeryn Bradley led the Mastodons in 32nd place with a time of 22:44.1. Behind Bradley was Brayden Langdon in 46th with a time of 25:12.4 and Michaela Sheets in 47th with a time of 25:17.3. There was no team score.
The Mastodons will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 to compete in the Evansville Invitational hosted by Evansville University. This will be the final race before the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Carmel, Ind.
