King Places in top Five at Horizon League Meet

CARMEL, Ind. – Madison King placed in the top five to lead the Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30.
King led the way for the 'Dons finishing in fifth place with a time of 23:02.6. This is the second season in a row King has placed in the top 10 at the Horizon League championships, and is the highest finish for a Mastodon since Emma Rafuse won the Summit League Championships back in 2018.
Behind King was Brooke Neal in 44th place with a 24:40.7, Kathy Potter in 63rd with a time of 25:17.6, Madison Langdon in 78th with a time of 26:00.1, Makaila Groves in 80th with a time of 26:03.9, Paige Benecke in 83rdwith a time of 26:12.8 and Mercedes Sarver in 89th with a time of 27:10.5.
Milwaukee was the Horizon League team champion with 47 points. Wright State's Abigail Halsey was the race champion, finishing with a time of 22:10.6.
The Mastodons finished ninth out of 12 teams with 220 points at Saturday's championship race.
The Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Great Lakes Regional meet in Evansville, Ind.
