
Reed Leads 'Dons to Triple Jump Record on Sunday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Sunday (Feb. 28), the third day of the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship, Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field captured a podium position and a school record at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse.
Purdue Fort Wayne had two participants in the triple jump event. Jai Reed finished ninth jumping 10.83 meters, breaking the school record in the preliminaries (10.77m) and the finals. Payton McHenry jumped 9.63 meters.
Dylan Kirkwood raced her way to the podium, finishing third in the 60 meter hurdles and completed the race in 8.86 seconds .
In the finals of the 400 meter race, freshman Maya Preece finished the event with a time of 59.62 seconds and placed eighth. Paige Benecke crossed the finish line in 15th place with a time of 5:24.17 in the mile run while Angelina Sedlaczek finished 17th, recording a time of 5:27.00.
Preece also competed in the 200 meter dash. She reached a time of 26.19, taking the 12th place spot. Rachel Pierre-Louis ended the dash in 23rd (27.17), Jasmyne Rivera in 24th (27.38), Mackenzie Lanning ing 25th (27.50) and Haley Pandazis rounded out Purdue Fort Wayne in 30th (28.14).
The Mastodons ended the day in seventh place with 28 points. The fourth and final day of the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships will begin on Monday (March 1) at 8:30 a.m. ET beginning with pole vault.
