Mastodons Double Up Butler 6-3

INDIANAPOLIS – The Mastodon baseball team notched 12 hits in a 6-3 victory over Butler on Friday (March 12) afternoon.
Purdue Fort Wayne never trailed in the game after scoring a run in the first inning. It was a 1-1 game when the 'Dons put two more on the board in the second. Jack Lang and Garett Lake each had an RBI in the frame.
It was a 3-2 game in the fourth when Lucas Kolovitz singled to score Justin Greene and Lang to make the score 5-2. Lake added an RBI triple in the eighth to make the final 6-3.
Lake finished with three hits and two walks. He had two RBIs and scored once. He was one of four Mastodons with multiple hits. Lang, Greene and Trenton Stoner each had two hits.
The 'Dons also got it done on the mound. Justin Miller continued his strong start to the season with 6.0 innings. He gave up six hits, but struck out seven Bulldogs. Ryan Robison tossed the final 1.1 innings to get his second save of the year.
Connor Schultz went two innings for Butler. He is now 0-1. Miller is now 2-1 for the 'Dons.
Butler falls to 1-1. The 'Dons are now 3-6. Game two of the series will be on Saturday (March 13).
