Mastodons Takes Series From Butler With 9-6 Win On Sunday

The Mastodons earned another quality start from sophomore Jacob Myer. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native allowed six hits, four runs (two earned) with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings. He is now 2-0. Myer's ERA sits at 1.71 through 21.0 innings of work this season.
The 'Dons started the game with a two-spot in the first inning. Justin Greene used a single to score Jack Lang and Garett Lake.
Butler cut the Mastodon lead in half with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first by James Gargano. The 'Dons got it back in the top of the second. Alex Evenson started the inning with a double and scored on a wild pitch.
The 'Dons scored five in the fourth inning and chased Butler starter Jon Vore. Zac Baden knocked in two on a single. Justin Greene tripled with two outs to push home two more. Then Lucas Kolovitz provided a two-out single to knock in Greene.
Butler came back in the bottom half of the fourth with a pair of unearned runs. They would add three more the rest of the way but never catch up.
The final third of the Mastodon lineup scored five of the Mastodons' nine runs. Baden finished 3-for-5 with two runs knocked in and one run scored. Evenson and Dylan Stewart each scored twice.
Greene had four RBIs. Lake joined Evenson and Stewart in scoring twice.
Vore took the loss for Butler. He is 0-1. Ryan Robison picked up his third save of the season for the 'Dons. He tossed 1.1 scoreless innings.
Butler is now 2-2. The Mastodons improve to 4-7.
The 'Dons are back in action on Friday (March 19) when they start a four-game Horizon League series with Oakland.
