Miller Fans 12 But Milwaukee Uses Four-Run Eighth To Top ‘Dons 6-3
3/26/2021 5:11:00 PM | Baseball
Miller went 7.2 innings and finished with a line of three runs (two earned), five hits and two walks allowed to go with his 12 strikeouts. They are the most strikeouts by a Mastodon since Evan Miller struck out 13 against Omaha on April 26, 2015.
Miller left in the eighth with the 'Dons leading 3-2 and a runner on first after an infield single by Mike Ferri. Unfortunately for the 'Dons, Ferri's single would be the first of five consecutive hits for the Panthers that would put them up 6-3.
Aaron Chapman, playing not far from his hometown of Waterford, Wisconsin, smacked a three-run home run for the 'Dons in the third inning. His blast to left field scored Trenton Stoner and Jack Lang. It made it a 3-1 game as the Panthers had scored one run the previous inning. The Panthers made it a 3-2 game in the fifth with the help of an unearned run. It stayed that way until the Panthers' four-run eighth inning.
Andrew Neu got the win for the Panthers. He is now 2-0 after throwing 2.1 scoreless innings. AJ Blubaugh tossed a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season. Ryan Robison suffered his first loss of the season and is now 1-1 on the year.
Garett Lake and Lang each had two hits in the game for the 'Dons. Chapman's home run and Jack Cavanaugh's eighth inning triple were the only two extra base hits in the game.
The 'Dons fall to 7-9 (4-5 Horizon League). The Panthers improve to 4-12 (4-5 Horizon League). The series will continue on Saturday.
