Panthers Take Doubleheader From Mastodons

Game One – Panthers 6, Mastodons 5 (scheduled seven-inning game)
It was a 5-2 Mastodon lead entering the seventh. The Mastodons were one out away from a win but the Panthers had two runners on base. A walk and three consecutive singles followed to give Milwaukee the win with four runs in the inning. Jack Cavanaugh had the game-winning RBI on a walk-off single.
The 'Dons went up 4-0 with a four-spot in the fourth. Garrett Maish knocked in two with a bases loaded double on an 0-2 pitch. Dylan Stewart and Zac Baden added RBIs in the inning.
While the Panthers scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings, Jacob Myer did some dancing to limit the damage in both innings.
Myer suffered his first loss of the season. He is now 3-1 after giving up six runs (five earned). Will Wohlt tossed 1.1 innings to get the win for Milwaukee. He is 1-0.
Garett Lake was on base four times. He finished 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch.
Game Two – Panthers 5, Mastodons 2
Milwaukee started the scoring with two runs in the first inning. Both were knocked in on a triple by Jack Kraus.
Boyd allowed only two runs, both in the first inning. Boyd finished with a line of 6.0 innings pitched, two runs, one earned run, eight strikeouts and two walks. He drops to 0-4 on the season.
It was a 5-0 Panthers advantage in the ninth when Andrew Lawvere hit a two-run home run to make the final 5-2. Ryan Mollette doubled to start the ninth and score on the home run. It was Mollette's first hit of the season.
Adam LaRock got the win for Milwaukee. He is 1-1. Matt McCarty threw 3.2 innings for his second save of the season.
The 'Dons fall to 7-11 (4-7 Horizon League). The Panthers improve to 6-12 (6-5 Horizon League). The series will conclude with a single game on Sunday in a 1 p.m. ET start.
