Softball Drops Opening Games at Stinger Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team dropped two games to open the 2022 season, falling to Austin Peay 14-0 and Alabama State 7-0.
Game 1
Senior Lauren McConnell (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Purdue Fort Wayne (0-1).
Offensively, the Mastodons were led by freshman Brayden Lickey, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a double. Senior Alise Hale put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-2 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Austin Peay scored their first run in the first, then added on at least one run in each inning the rest of the way. The Mastodons last got a runner on third in the fifth, when Lickey made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Lickey led the Mastodons at the plate, going 1-for-1 with a double.
» Austin Peay was led offensively by senior Lexi Osowski, who went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.

Emma McMillan led the way offensively for the Mastodons, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Purdue Fort Wayne managed two chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Mastodons last got a runner on third in the sixth, when McMillan made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
