Kirkwood and Hudson-Turpin Break Program Records at Horizon League Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Dylan Kirkwood and Jesseca Hudson-Turpin broke program records for the women's track & field teams on day one of the Horizon League Championships on Saturday, Feb. 26.
Kirkwood broke the record in the women's pentathlon with 3,502 points. Hudson-Turpin broke the record for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.62 seconds in Saturday's prelims.
Kirkwood and Sophia Buck (3,235 points) placed third and fifth in the women's pentathlon. The two combined for 10 points towards the Mastodon team score.
For Kirkwood, she finished second in the high jump (1.62 meters), third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.94 seconds) and shot put (9.96 meters), and fifth in the long jump (5.24 meters) and 800-meter run (2:32.02). With the third-place finish, Kirkwood received Horizon League Honorable Mention in the event.
Buck was third in the 800-meter run (2:30.06), fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.99 seconds), seventh in the long jump (5.10 meters), eighth in the high jump (1.47 meters), and 10th in the shot put (9.15 meters).
Madison King also scored points for the 'Dons. She finished in second in the 5,000-meter run (17:07.04), earning eight points for the 'Dons. King received Second Team All-Horizon League honors for her finish.
Louiza Kruiswijk took sixth (5.61 meters) in the long jump. The women's distance medley relay team of Kathy Potter, Katie Clark, Brayden Langdon, and Brooke Neal were seventh (12:40.96).
After day one, the women's team is in fifth place with 23 points. Youngstown State leads after day one with 68 points.
Athletes who qualified for the finals in their respective events include Hudson-Turpin and Jordan Yanders (8.71 seconds) in the 60-meter hurdles, and Katie Clark in the 400-meter dash (57.35 seconds).
Day two of the 2022 Horizon League Indoor Championships opens tomorrow at 9 a.m.
