Johnson Breaks Triple Jump at Day Two of Horizon League Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field athlete Selena Johnson broke the program record in the triple jump at day two of the 2022 Horizon League Indoor Championships on Sunday, Feb. 27.
Johnson's jump of 11.79 meters in the triple jump surpassed her previous record of 11.73 meters from the Mastodon Opener back on Dec. 4.
Point scorers in running events for the 'Dons included Madison King, who finished in second in the women's 3,000-meter run (9:56.72, eight points). Jesseca Hudson-Turpin (8.73 seconds) and Jordan Yanders (8.80 seconds) were fourth and fifth in the 60-meter hurdle finals (nine combined points). Katie Clark finished fifth in the women's 400-meter dash finals (56.76 seconds, four points).
Point scorers in field events included Johnson and Louiza Kruiswijk (11.49 meters) who were fourth and seventh in the triple jump (seven combined points). Miranda Haney was sixth in the high jump at 1.60 meters (three points). Nakia Harris-Campbell was eighth in the shot put at 12.82 meters (one point).
The Mastodons finished the meet with 59 points and in fourth place. Youngstown State earned the team title with 211 points.
