
Johnson, King Break Program Records and Lead Mastodons to Team Win

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Purdue Fort Wayne won the women's team title at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Saturday, March 12. The Mastodons won the 26-team meet with 128 points.
Madison King and Selena Johnson broke program records to help lead the 'Dons to the victory.
Johnson broke the record triple jump at 11.51 meters. The mark bests the previous record of 10.88 meters, which was held by Whitney Love for more than 10 years. Johnson finished in first in the event and received 10 team points. King set the program record in the women's 3,000 meter-run with time of 10:12.48 and finished in first in the event. The previous record of 10:15 was held by Felicia Mondry.
Point scorers in field events included Miranda Haney in third (six points) in the high jump (1.53 meters) and Louiza Kruiswijk in third (six points) in the triple jump (11.20 meters).
Katie Clark (25.72 seconds), Jesseca Hudson-Turpin (26.29 seconds), Jordan Yanders (27.10 seconds), and Haley Pandazis (27.33 seconds) took first, second, fifth, and seventh place in the 200-meter dash. The four athletes combined for 24 team points.
In hurdles, Yanders (15.70 seconds) and Dylan Kirkwood (16.35 seconds) were first and third in the 100-meter hurdles (16 combined points between the two athletes). Sophia Buck won the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.84, 10 points).
Point scorers in mid distance/distance events included Brooke Neal in fourth (five points) in the 3,000-meter steeple chase (11:53.11), Brayden Langdon (2:28.36), and Makaila Groves (2:29.22) were fifth and sixth in the 800-meter run (seven combined points) and Kathy Potter in seventh (two points) in the 1,500 meter-run (5:12.79)
In relay events, the 4 by 100-meter relay team of Ninti Little, Jai Reed, Pandazis, and Yanders finished in sixth (four points) at 50.57 seconds,
The Mastodons will be back in action on Friday, March 18 to compete in the Blizzard Buster, hosted by Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio.
