FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne fell to Youngstown State in the Horizon League opener on Friday (March 18) 4-0 at the Mastodon Field.
Freshman Rex Stills (0-2) got the ball to start for Purdue Fort Wayne (1-16, 0-1) and took the loss. Brian Skelton came out of the bullpen and threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and one strikeout.
At the plate, the Mastodons were led by junior Cade Fitzpatrick, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a pair of singles.
The Mastodons last got a runner on third in the eighth, when senior Dylan Stewart made it 90 feet away from scoring with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Fitzpatrick led the Mastodons at the plate, going 2-for-3.
» Youngstown State was led offensively by sophomore Seth Lucero, who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
