Softball Drops Midweek Game at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS - Butler had two pitchers combine to throw a shutout on Tuesday (April 19) as the Bulldogs blanked the Purdue Fort Wayne softball team 3-0.
Senior Lauren McConnell (1-5) got the ball to start for Purdue Fort Wayne (7-31) and took the loss. Four other Mastodons came out of the bullpen to pitch an inning each. Shaina Eyre, Gracie Brinkerhoff and Alyson Quinlan combined to throw three innings of two-hit ball. Brinkerhoff did not give up a hit in her three batters faced.
Butler scored in the first inning and held the lead for the duration, adding two runs in the third on a home run.
Purdue Fort Wayne broke up the no-hitter in the second inning when Thais Uyema doubled to right field. Alise Hale singled to third in the fourth, then stole second and third, but was stranded there.
GAME NOTES
» Hale stole two bases in Tuesday's game.
» Purdue Fort Wayne pitchers limited Butler to just 1-for-7 (.143) with runners in scoring position.
» Uyema led the Mastodons at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a double.
