Mastodons Head to Dayton for Doubleheader With Flyers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team will play at Dayton for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday (April 27).

Dayton is 14-20, 9-8 Atlantic 10 this season. The Flyers have played just one other Horizon League school this season, which was a 4-2 loss to Northern Kentucky. They beat Butler 6-0 the next day. Johnson was selected as the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Senior in Psychology Award this year. She owns a 4.0 cumulative GPA, completed two internships this semester while playing softball, which included attending meetings from the road while with the team.

Shaina Eyre is seventh in program history with 21 career wins. Eyre is also second in program history in career pitching appearances with 118, behind just Courtney Cronin (122).

Friday, May 6 will be the Mastodons' annual Pink Out game. In early February, Purdue Fort Wayne raised 7,500 dollars for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The check was delivered to the Vera Bradley Foundation during halftime of a women's basketball game on February 5. There was a luncheon prior to the game to recognize breast cancer survivors. The softball team will wear pink uniforms to celebrate the Mastodons' donation to the Vera Bradley Foundation.
Senior Day is Coming Up...
The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team will recognize seven seniors on May 7 for Senior Day: Ashley Haas, Shaina Eyre, Camryn Mosher, Alise Hale, Lauren McConnell, Jadelyn Johnson and Emma McMillan.
Smarty Pants
Five current Mastodons were named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes in 2021: Shaina Eyre, Ashley Haas, Alise Hale, Jadelyn Johnson and Emma McMillan. Hale is a two-time honoree. All five student-athletes were required to maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better over the year to earn the award.

Purdue Fort Wayne dropped three games at Robert Morris last weekend.
Next Time Up
The Mastodons will return to Fort Wayne to start their final homestand of the season. The 'Dons will host Youngstown State at Indiana Tech's Warrior Park on April 29-30, then host the Northern Kentucky Norse on May 6-7 at the Purdue Fort Wayne Softball Field.
