'Dons Host UIC in Crucial Horizon League Series

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne (12-27, 9-10 Horizon) welcomes UIC (14-18, 7-5 Horizon) to Mastodon Field this weekend for a Horizon League series. Saturday will be Senior Day for the 'Dons. UIC sits in second place in the standings in a tightly packed Horizon League race.

Scouting the Flames: UIC didn't have a midweek game this week. They are coming off a 2-1 weekend in league last week, sweeping a doubleheader with Milwaukee and falling in extras to Wright State. Their other scheduled game against Wright State was postponed. The Flames have a pair of wins over Big Ten foe Purdue this season.

Two in a Row: Jacob Myer was named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on April 12 after not allowing any runs in 8.2 innings. He got the win against Michigan and Milwaukee. On April 19 Ben Higgins was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week. He went 9-of-13 (.692 batting average) with a .750 on-base percentage, 1.154 slugging percentage and a 1.904 OPS. He had two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored.
New Faces: The 2022 Mastodon roster features 15 returners from last season and 18 newcomers.
