Kirkwood Wins Women's Heptathlon at Golden Grizzles Invitational

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field student-athlete Dylan Kirkwood won the women's heptathlon at Day Two of the Golden Grizzles Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
Kirkwood won the heptathlon with 4,375 points. She finished first in the long jump (5.29 meters), third in the 800-meter run (2:38.00) and sixth in the javelin throw (21.62 meters).
Sophia Buck came in third in the heptathlon. She placed second in the long jump (5.00 meters), javelin throw (29.01 meters) and in the 800-meter run (2:35.86).
In sprint events, Jesseca Hudson-Turpin (14.35 seconds) and Jordan Yanders (15.86 seconds) finished first and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles. Katie Clark was second in the 200-meter dash (25.90 seconds). Haley Pandazis was sixth in the 100-meter dash finals (13.04 seconds).
The women's 4 by 100-meter relay team of Mariah Oberhaus, Josefin Wikfeldt, Pandazis and Katie Clark finished second (49.96 seconds).
Other top finishers include Makaila Groves (2:23.31) and Kathy Potter (2:24.11) were sixth and eighth in the 800-meter run. Allyssa Hennessey (1.45 meters) finished seventh in the high jump.
The Mastodons will be back in action with multiple meets next week. The 'Dons will compete in the Monday Meet on April 11 at Indiana Tech. They will also compete at the Huntington Invitational on Thursday, April 14 and the Ball State outdoor Meet on Saturday, April 16.
