Through Four Events, Kirkwood Sits Second in Heptathlon at Horizon League Championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field student-athlete Dylan Kirkwood is in second place of the women's heptathlon after day one of the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, May 6.
Kirkwood accumulated 2888 points through the first four events of the heptathlon. She finished first in the 200-meter dash (25.23 seconds), second in the 100-meter dash (15.13 seconds), third in the high jump (1.54 meters), and fifth in the shot put (10.03 meters). The long jump, shot put and 800 meters will be held on Saturday. Kirkwood is behind Oliva Jones from Youngstown State. Jones owns 2923 points.
Sophia Buck (2508 points) and Ramey Wilder (2348 points) sit in eighth and ninth place in the heptathlon.
At the end of day one, the women's team is in fifth place out of eight teams with eight points.
Point scorers for the Mastodons include Megan Sinnott, who finished third in the javelin throw (38.58 meters), and Madison King, who finished seventh in the women's 10,000-meter run (36:59.25).
Day two of the Horizon League Championships continues at 9 a.m. tomorrow with the women's heptathlon long jump.
