Mastodon Softball Celebrates Senior Day on Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team dropped a pair of games to Northern Kentucky on Saturday, May 7, 1-0 and 6-1. This came on the heels of celebrating the team's seven seniors: Ashley Haas, Shaina Eyre, Camryn Mosher, Alise Hale, Lauren McConnell, Jade Johnson and Emma McMillan.
GAME 1 | Northern Kentucky 1, Purdue Fort Wayne 0
The 'Dons dropped a pitcher's duel in game one, with both pitchers going the full seven innings. McConnell (1-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Purdue Fort Wayne. She gave up just one run, a solo home run in the fourth.
McMillan led the way offensively for the Mastodons, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
Purdue Fort Wayne had the winning run at the plate in the seventh after McMillan singled to start the inning, but the senior was stranded at third.

GAME 2 | Northern Kentucky 6, Purdue Fort Wayne 1
The second game was determined by one strong offensive inning by NKU. The Norse put up six runs in the fifth on three home runs.
Johnson (1-7) came out of the bullpen for Purdue Fort Wayne and took the loss. Eyre started the game and threw 7.0 innings. She returned to the circle after Johnson's four batters. Eyre gave up just one run with two strikeouts.
Purdue Fort Wayne got on the board in the second thanks to Brayden Lickey's RBI double with two outs. NKU's six-run blitz in the fourth put them on top.
