Andrew Whitinger Sets 3000 Meters School Record on Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Mastodon men's track and field was competing in multiple locations on Saturday (Jan. 21). The 'Dons hosted the Mastodon Invite at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse and sent some student-athletes to Liberty's Brant Tolsma Invitational in Virginia.
In Fort Wayne, Cain Hohne took first in the high jump with a jump of 2.03 meters. Zyler Johnson had a third place performance in the weight throw (16.69 meters). Aaron Martin also had a third place finish in the shot put (16.66 meters). In the pole vault, Cody Loshe used a mark of 4.45 meters to take second in the event.
The 'Dons dominated the 3000 meters, taking five of the top six spots. Andrew Whitinger won the event (8:31.05) with a school record just beating out teammate Nathan Mills (8:31.95) who also beat the previous record. Nicholas Mills finished third (8:35.98) with Harrison Niswander (8:38.27) taking fifth and Austin Hall (8:40.75) in sixth.
The 'Dons put together win in the DMR with Draven Thompson, Colin Gasson, Nicholas Mills and JT Hodges earning a time of 10:28.43.
Kobe Milledge finished the 800 meters in 1:57.10 for second. In the 200 meters, John Jackman was third (22.75). Jackman was also third in the 60 meters.
Thompson earned fourth in the mile (4:24.63).
At Liberty's meet, Braxton Trittipo turned in an eighth place finish in the 400 meters (50.01). Troy Golden wasn't too far back, taking 11th (50.55).
Brent Donaldson took fourth in the 60 hurdles, running a time of 8.56 in the finals.
The 'Dons are back in action on Feb. 3 at Bellarmine's meet.
