FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field squads will open the 2023 outdoor season this weekend in meets hosted by Miami (Ohio) and High Point.

High Point Preview:
The Mastodons will send a handful of throwers to High Point.
Women: Abbigail Garwood: shotput and hammer. Lia Rivers: shotput and hammer. Megan Sinnott: javelin. Ali Sparks: shotput, discus and hammer.

The vast majority of student-athletes will head to Oxford, Ohio to open outdoor season at the MAC school. Here are a few Mastodons to keep your eye on.
About Last Season: The 'Dons finished the men's season fifth at the Horizon League meet last season. The women were fourth.
Up Next: The 'Dons will send some student-athletes to the Raleigh Relays (March 23-25) and some to Cedarville's Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open (March 25).

High Point Preview:

- It will be Sinnott's first chance of the season to compete in the javelin after taking third last season at the league championships.
- Walden and Johnson finished fifth and sixth in the hammer last season at the league outdoor championships.
Miami (Ohio) Preview:
The vast majority of student-athletes will head to Oxford, Ohio to open outdoor season at the MAC school. Here are a few Mastodons to keep your eye on.
- Dylan Kirkwood, who was sixth in the 400 hurdles last season at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, will compete in the same event and the 100 hurdles on Friday at Miami.
- Miranda Haney will see her first action of the season outdoors in the high jump. She as sixth last year at the league outdoor championships.
- Brooke Neal will run in the 1500 meters and the first leg of the 4x800 relay. She is coming off three podium performances in the indoor championships a few weeks ago.
- Draven Thompson had a sixth place finish in the 1500 meters at the outdoor championships last season will compete in the same event at Miami. He will also run a leg of the 4 x 800 relay.
- Joe Cartwright will compete in the 200 meters and the 4 x 400 relay at Miami. He helped the 'Dons take silver in the 4 x 400 at Horizon League outdoors last season.
- Cody Loshe earned third in the pole vault as a freshman last season at the league championships. He will return to outdoor competition on Friday at Miami.
