YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team put multiple student-athletes on the podium on Saturday (May 6) during the second day of the 2023 Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
Asher Walden was second in the hammer with a toss of 53.10 meters. Freshman Harrison Niswander broke the school record in the 3000 steeplechase, taking fourth overall with a time of 9:20.54. He wasn't the only Mastodon on the podium in the event. Jarred Neff took sixth, stopping the clock in 9:24.34 for a new personal best. He would have broken his own school record had it not been for Niswander's performance.
Aaron Martin was fifth in the shot put (15.66 meters) and Brevin Miller earned sixth (15.66 meters). Their throws set a new school record, a record they will now share. Cody Loshe picked up sixth in the pole vault (4.30 meters). Kai Auernheimer was seventh in the decathlon (5058 points).
Charles Thiam had a time of 14.91 in the prelims on Saturday in the 110 hurdles to qualify for Sunday's finals. It also set a new school record.
Braxton Trittipo earned the fifth seed in Sunday's finals in the 400 meters. He ran a time of 49.05 on Saturday. Kehinde Oladapo ran a time of 1:54.93 in the 800 on Saturday to also earn the fifth seed in Sunday's finals. Oladapo was eight-tenths of a second away from setting a school record.
