The Mastodons Gotta Play Well at the GATA Challenge

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne softball heads south for the GATA Challenge, hosted by Georgia Southern. The 'Dons will be traveling to Statesboro, Georgia, this weekend (Feb. 23-25) to play Georgia Southern three times and Presbyterian twice.

• Georgia Southern started their season 5-3. The Eagles had a four-game winning streak during their home tournament, Bash in the Boro. They have a loss to No. 18 Florida. Emma Davis, Georgia Southern's leading hitter last season, is back for her sophomore season. Davis is batting .423 on her 26 total at bats, with 11 hits and three RBI's during the 2024 season. Bailey Holland, the Eagles's best pitcher from last season, is also back for a sophomore campaign. Holland has a 1.31 ERA and has started the season 2-1 after a 6-12 season last year.
• Presbyterian is off to a 5-6 start. The Blue Hose have two losses to a familiar opponent in Youngstown State. Gracie DeCuir, who is returning for her sophomore season, is the Blue Hose's leading batter. She is batting .500 on her 24 total at bats, with 12 hits and four RBI's. Freshman Kasey Wolfe has been Presbyterian's leading pitcher this year, with a 0.61 ERA and a 2-1 start to the season.

Bailey Banter
Bailey Manos has started the 2024 season with a .464 batting average and 13 hits on 28 at bats. She leads the Horizon League in batting average.

Gracied By Your Presence
After being named to the UTEP Invitational All-Tournament Team, Gracie Brinkerhoff was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on February 20. She finished the week with 15.1 innings pitched and struck out seven batters.

Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne went 1-4 at the UTEP Invitational, topping Montana. Grace Hollopeter hit two home runs in the win, with three RBI's.

Up Next
The Mastodons will travel to Eastern Kentucky to play in the EKU Colonel Classic. They will play Eastern Kentucky and Ball State twice and Canisius once.
