Mastodon Softball Travels to Cleveland to Take on Next Horizon League Foe

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team looks to add to their recent success, as they travel to Cleveland State for a mid-week series (April 9-10).

Cleveland State is 9-16 on the season and 5-4 in the Horizon League. The Vikings won both their IUPUI and Green Bay series with two wins in each, losing a game to each opponent. Oakland took its series over the Vikings, besting them twice. Sophomore Emma Gilkerson has a team-high three home runs this season, is batting .383 and slugging .633. Melissa Holzopfel, Cleveland State's leading pitcher over the last two seasons, is continuing to lead her team in the circle. Holzopfel is 9-7 on the season with a 2.32 ERA, to continue her career mark of 2.74.

Last Time Out
The Mastodons won the series against Robert Morris last weekend (April 5-6), taking both games in the Saturday (April 6) double header. The 'Dons won the rubber game in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Aglaia Rudd and Epiphany Hang both drew walks with the bases loaded, leading to a walk-off walk for the win. The 'Dons finished with five doubles in the series, Aglaia Rudd having one in all three games. Bailey Manos finished the series with four total stolen bases, two in the loss and one in each of the wins. Alanah Jones went 1-1 on the weekend, with 11 strikeouts. Bailey Manos is batting a team-high .317 this season for a total of 33 hits, ranking seventh in the Horizon League. Manos is also tied for first during Horizon League play with four stolen bases.

In league play, Aglaia Rudd has a .400 batting average and is slugging .667. Rudd has five doubles during league play, fifth in the Horizon League, and 15 total RBI on the season, tenth in the HL.
