HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field program broke both the 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay school records on the second day of High Point's VertKlasse Meeting (April 5).
Jordan Yanders, Lillian Hurd, Aniya Young and Harmony Johnson broke the first record of the day, running the 4x100 meter relay in 46.43. There was ground to make up going into the final leg, but Johnson turned on the burners to win the second heat and claim the Horizon League's fastest time.
Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Marissa Van De Weg and Hurd broke the school's 4x400 meter relay record by half a second, completing the event in 3:48.03. The relay time also holds the league's top spot.
Van De Weg ran a personal record in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing with the HL's quickest time of 1:01.15.
Yanders completed a league-best time of 13.91 in the 100 meter hurdles at the meet.
Senior Louiza Kruiswijk cleared 11.76 meters in her first triple jump of the outdoor season, claiming fourth in the Horizon League. Freshman Kaylee Rogaczewski jumped 11.62 meters in the event, sitting just behind Kruiswijk in the HL standings.
Mach leaped over 1.55 meters in the high jump, earning sixth in the league.
Purdue Fort Wayne will travel to Indiana Wesleyan on April 11-12 for the Little State Championships.
