Boden Genovese Breaks School Record at #HLTF Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team completed day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, moving seven athletes onto final events in the third day after the preliminary rounds and setting a new 800 meters school record.
Harrison Niswander held the highest Mastodon finish of the day in the last event of the day. Niswander finished the 3000 meter steeplechase in fourth, finishing in 9:07.84 and earning five Purdue Fort Wayne points. Andrew Arnos ran a personal record 10:00.28 time in the event for 18th.
Freshman Luca Merita completed his first collegiate decathlon in sixth place with a 4939 mark for three Mastodon points. Merita completed his first collegiate 110 meter hurdles (19.18), discus throw (36.93 meters), pole vault (3.60 meters) and 1500 meters (5:15.15) during day two of the meet.
Two 'Dons took the podium in shot put. Brevin Miller placed seventh with a 14.44 meter mark, earning two points. Freshman Josiah Bird threw a 14.39 meter mark for eighth. Tyler Bowman threw a personal record 13.71 meters in the event.
Damien Keys cleared 6.78 meters in long jump, placing eighth for a Purdue Fort Wayne point.
Three Mastodons qualified for the 400 meter dash finals after the preliminary rounds. Jonas Morris won the first heat with a time of 49.28. Noah Morris finished second in the second heat with 49.78 to secure a spot in the finals. Cainen Northington qualified with the fifth quickest 400 meter dash with a 50.00 time.
Jonas Morris and Noah Morris both qualified for the 200 meter dash. Jonas Morris finished second in the first heat with a time of 21.57. Noah Morris qualified with a time of 21.75.
Ezra Lewellen qualified after finishing second in the third heat of the 100 meter dash, with a time of 10.59. Jaylin Springer ran a personal-record 10.79 in the event.
Boden Genovese broke the school's 800 meters school record after finishing in 1:53.04. The Freshman's time secured the last qualifying spot during the preliminary rounds. Nicholas Mills, who previously held the school record, also ran a personal record time of 1:53.06. Joshua Roper ran a personal record 1:54.15 time in the event.
