'Dons Take On #HLTF Outdoor Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams will travel to Youngstown, Ohio for the Horizon League Outdoor Championships from Friday to Sunday (9-11).

Women's Indoor Championships
Purdue Fort Wayne finished as runner up in the 2025 Horizon League Indoor Championships and collected 126 points, both program records. The Mastodons brought home both freshman awards after the meet, Lillian Hurd named Freshman of the Year – Running and Amelie Mach earned Freshman of the Year – Field. Director Aaron Combs was named Horizon League Indoor Women's Coach of the Year. Ali Sparks won both of the weight throw and shot put in the championships. Jordan Yanders finished the meet as 60 meter hurdles event champion. The 4x400 relay team of Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Marissa Van De Weg and Lillian Hurd finished the event in first. Hurd also finished as 400 meter dash champion.
Men's Indoor Championships
The Mastodon men finished the 2025 Horizon League Indoor Championships in fourth, with a program-high 95 points. The 'Dons 4x400 squad of Ezra Lewellen, Cainen Northington, Noah Morris and Jonas Morris won the relay at the league championships. Jonas Morris also finished as the 400 meter dash event champion. Lewellen beat out all league competition in the 60 meter dash on his way to becoming the back-to-back indoor 60 meter dash champion.
'Dons 2024 Outdoor Championships
The women placed a program-best third place in the 2024 Horizon League Outdoor Championships with 105 points. Ali Sparks won the hammer throw. The men finished fourth (100 points) in last year's HL Outdoor Championships, the best finish in program history. The 'Dons finished with one event champion, Viktor Ertelt in javelin.
