Fort Wayne, IN- The IUPUI Jaguars trailed by one at half, but rallied for four unanswered second-half goals to top IPFW, 5-2 Tuesday night at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
Following their first win of the season, IPFW came out fired up in this match and cracked the scoreboard first. Freshman Chris Moreno worked the ball deep into the Jag's zone and ripped a shot from about eight yards out. Freshman Lee Castillo darted straight for the shot, got a foot on it, and redirected it past IUPUI goal keeper Drew Deffner.
The Jaguars (6-6-0) tied it at the 30:40 mark. Senior Nathan Conner got a quick sideline toss to a streaking Eric Weigman. Weigman found an open seam on the right side, drove in on IPFW keeper Michael Knitter, and netted his shot the far post.
Just before half, IPFW would grab the lead again. Junior Chas Parry sent Moreno in all alone on Deffner, and he beat him to the far side. It was Moreno's second goal in as many matches.
However, that was the last lead the 'Dons would enjoy in the match.
In the second half, Justin Darvish tied the game for the Jags with a blast from about 17 yards out.
IUPUI got the eventual game-winner at 60:39 mark on a nice piece of hustle from sophomore Cameron Williams. Williams one-timed a shot which was stopped by an IPFW defender in front of the net. The rebound came back to Williams and he buried it.
The Jaguars got two more late goals to make the final 5-2.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 1-11-0 on the year. They return to action, hosting Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
