IPFW Falls to Southeast Missouri State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Mastodons headed into Sunday's game with a series split after being defeated in game one, but coming back to win game two 6-4. Game three of the series did not go well as IPFW fell by the final score of 26-7.
The Redhawks (3-4) scored 10 runs in the first, five in the second and six in the third leading to the victory. They recorded 18 hits in 36 at bats and ended the game with 26 RBI's. IPFW (2-4) ended Sunday with five hits which generated seven runs.
Five different players got a hit off SEMO on Sunday. Senior Daren Boss went 1-for-3 with two RBI's. Michael Mugg and Lucas Salerno each picked up their first RBI's of the season.
Daniel Tursell took the loss for IPFW. His first start was a rough one as he allowed seven hits in just over one inning of work. Only six of the 12 runs scored off Tursell were earned. Steve Danielak came in to relieve Tursell. Danielak quickly gave up 12 earned runs in two innings. He struck out two, yet walked five. The final pitcher to see action on Sunday was Nathaniel White. White threw the final two innings of the game and struck out two Redhawks.
IPFW will return from the road trip and get to play their first game of the season in Indiana when they travel to Evansville this coming weekend to face the Purple Aces on March 2.
