Ohio Posts 13 Runs in Win over IPFW

ATHENS, Ohio – The IPFW baseball team tasted defeat on Sunday afternoon against the Ohio Bobcats. The 'Dons recorded eight hits, but were unable to generate any runs falling by the final score of 13-0.
Shane Trevino and Daren Boss each collected two hits against the Bobcats on Sunday. Lucas Salerno ended the day with a 1-for-3 effort.
The loss at Wren Stadium takes the IPFW overall record to 4-13 this season. Ohio used a balanced offensive attack as four different players recorded two RBI. The Bobcats scored at least one run in every inning but the fifth.
Four different pitchers saw action against Ohio. Nathaniel White was hit with his first loss of the year. White allowed seven earned runs in just over two innings of work. Steve Danielak was the first arm out of the bullpen for the 'Dons. Danielak limited Ohio to just one hit in just under two innings on the hill. He also led the team in strikeouts with three.
Kevin Kimball and Kyle Sorensen also got work in on Sunday. Kimball threw three complete innings allowing four earned runs. Sorensen threw the final inning of the game.
Clay Hathaway hit his third double of the season against the Bobcats. He found room to left field in the top of the seventh inning which sent Salerno to third base. He was unable to score as IPFW left 10 runners on base for the game.
IPFW will play its first midweek game of the season this week when they travel to South Bend to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
