DeBoe Homers as IPFW Sweeps Nebraska Omaha

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW baseball team completed the three-game sweep over Nebraska Omaha by defeating the Mavericks by the final score of 13-7 on Sunday afternoon. Carter DeBoe highlighted an eight-run seventh inning with his fourth home run of the season.
IPFW found themselves behind early as they trailed Nebraska Omaha 4-0 after the first two innings. They got back into the game by scoring a single run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth. The 'Dons exploded for eight runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to end the weekend undefeated at Mastodon Field.
Clay Hathaway and Cody O'Neal each recorded three hits for the Mastodons. Hathaway went 3-for-5 as the leadoff man with three RBI and two runs scored. O'Neal was the designated hitter on Sunday. He hit seventh in the lineup and recorded an RBI while scoring a run.
Carter DeBoe was 2-for-4 on the day with a monster three-run home run in the eighth. His round tripper sailed over the right field wall. Kristian Gayday also recorded two hits against the Mavericks. He posted three RBI and scored two runs.
Three IPFW pitchers saw action on the mound on Sunday. Travis Reboulet got the start for the 'Dons. Reboulet threw five complete innings against Nebraska Omaha, allowing four earned runs off nine hits. Drew Overman was credited with the win for IPFW. Overman threw 3.2 innings out of the bullpen and recorded two strikeouts. Steve Danielak was the final Mastodon to see the mound. Danielak got the last out of the game with a strikeout.
The Mastodons will continue to play games at Mastodon Field as the Dayton Flyers come to town for a midweek contest on Tuesday, April 3. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Summit League action will begin this weekend as the 'Dons host South Dakota State for a four-game series starting on Friday, April 6.
