FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW baseball team will host the Purdue Boilermakers on Tuesday, May 8. The game will be played off campus at Parkview Field. Tickets will be available at the gate for $5. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
Purdue has put together a successful season in 2012. The Boilermakers have been nationally ranked all year as they visit Fort Wayne with an overall record of 35-9. The team most recently defeated No. 11 UCLA on the road by the final score of 15-11. Purdue generated 10 runs in the ninth inning to record the comeback victory.
The Boilermakers have one of the highest team batting averages in the country at .316. Seven different players average over .300 with Eric Charles holding onto the top spot at .374. Cameron Perkins is the power hitter in the lineup. Perkins leads the team with six home runs and 45 RBI's.
Kevin Plawecki and Stephen Talbott have also impacted the lineup for Purdue in 2012. Plawecki is batting .367 with a slugging percentage of .566. The junior leads the club with 17 doubles on the year. Talbott uses his speed to hurt opponents. He is the team leader in triples with six and he also has 12 steals.
Purdue's weekend rotation is led by Blake Mascarello. Mascarello is 8-1 on the mound with an ERA of 1.83. Robert Ramer got the start for Purdue the first time they played IPFW this season. He threw eight full innings and limited the 'Dons to just three hits. Nick Wittgren also got time on the hill vs. IPFW he threw the final inning of the game giving Purdue a 6-1 win.
FIRST MATCHUP
IPFW traveled to Lambert Field on March 28 to face the Boilermakers earlier in the season. The 'Dons scored the first run of the game, but Purdue came up with three runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to record a 6-1 win.
Kristian Gayday played well in the first matchup. He went 2-for-3 from the plate and scored the lone run of the game for IPFW. Jordan Hoeing got the start at shortstop and delivered the only RBI of the game for the Mastodons.
Danny Tursell got the start on the mound for IPFW. He threw six full innings, limiting Purdue to just three hits. The Boilers posted three earned runs off Tursell, but the other three runs were unearned with Drew Overman on the hill.
