FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's tennis team will host a match against Cleveland State on Friday morning and then end the day with a match vs. Grace. The Mastodons will take the courts against the Vikings at 10 a.m. and the match against Grace will start at 7 p.m.
IPFW is off to a 0-3 start after being defeated by Purdue, Western Michigan, and most recently Green Bay. Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi picked up a win in No. 2 Doubles against Ross VanderPloeg and Marc Shideler of Western Michigan on Jan. 25. It marks the only win of the year for the Mastodons.
Cleveland State enters the weekend with a 1-3 record after defeating Binghamton on Sunday, Jan. 27. The Vikings took road losses at Xavier, Penn State, and Ohio State. Matt Ford is the top singles player on the roster and the doubles team of Niklas Jonsson and Ali Shabib has had the most success for Cleveland State early in the season.
Friday will be the first match of the year for Grace. The Lancers have three seniors and three juniors on the roster. Daniel Sanchez was the top singles player for Grace in 2012. He finished 7-4 during his first full season playing at No. 1 Singles and he was selected to the All-League team.
