
Men’s Tennis to Host Three Matches

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's tennis team will host Robert Morris, Chicago State, and Youngstown State this weekend with two contests on Friday, Feb. 15 and a single match on Sunday, Feb. 17 vs. the Penguins.
The Mastodons are 1-5 overall with their lone win of the season coming 7-0 over Grace College. Joao Freitas was recently named Summit League men's tennis player of the week for his performances Feb. 5-11. Freitas recorded wins over Wright State in both singles and doubles action. The sophomore won his No. 6 singles match in straight-sets over Evan Neuman and also picked up a victory in No. 1 Doubles with teammate Daniel Kang.
Freitas and Kang are 2-3 overall in doubles play as the top tandem for IPFW happens to be Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi who are 3-3 overall. Muadi and Freitas post the best single records on the team at 2-4.
Robert Morris is 2-4 overall with wins over Mercyhurst (7-0) and St. Bonaventure (4-3). Angus Thomson and Juan Andres Hirmas both have a singles record of 4-5 to lead the team. The doubles team of Thomson and Tarun Kishan post the best doubles record at 5-3.
Chicago State is still searching for their first win of the season as they enter the weekend 0-7. Mario Noboa and Luis Ulloa each have four wins in singles competition and Julian Chavez and Rashley Yeremia are close behind with three.
The Youngstown State Penguins are 0-2 early in the year with two 7-0 losses to Ohio State and Toledo.
