
Men’s Tennis Falls 4-3 to Youngstown State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's tennis team lost a tough match against Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon as the Penguins pulled out a 4-3 win. The Mastodons are now 3-6 overall.
IPFW missed out on the doubles point as the team of Andres Cobos and Gerard Guell fell in No. 3 Doubles 8-7. Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas won 8-5 in No. 1 Doubles and the tandem of Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi fell 8-4 in No. 2 Doubles.
The doubles point was the deciding factor on Sunday as each team won three matches in singles play. The Penguins opened up a 2-0 lead by defeating IPFW in No. 1 and No. 2 Singles. Kang lost 7-6, 6-2 in No. 1 and Cobos fell 7-6, 6-0 in No. 2.
Andrews recorded the first singles win of the day for IPFW winning his match in comeback fashion 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. Youngstown State won No. 4 Singles, but IPFW bounced back to win No. 5 and No. 6. Freitas won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 5 Singles and Muadi earned a 6-0, 6-0 win.
