
Men’s Tennis at Ball State before Hosting UIC and Michigan State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's tennis team will face Ball State on Wednesday, Feb. 20 and then host matches against UIC and Michigan State on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club.
ABOUT IPFW
The Mastodons are 3-6 after being defeated by Youngstown State on Sunday. IPFW defeated Robert Morris (7-0) and Chicago State (7-0) before that on Friday, Feb. 15.
Joao Freitas and Martin Muadi each have five wins in singles play to lead IPFW. The No. 1 Doubles team of Daniel Kang and Freitas is 5-3 on the year and the team of Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi is 5-4.
ABOUT BALL STATE
The Cardinals are 4-4 overall with wins over IUPUI, Dayton, Eastern Illinois, and Detroit. Senior Dalton Albertin was recently named Mid-American Conference Tennis Player of the Week. He went 2-0 at No. 1 Singles earning victories over Brown and IUPUI.
Albertin is 8-9 overall, but the best singles record on the team belongs to Austin Smith who is 16-6 on the year. Albertin and Ray Leonard make up the top doubles team on the Ball State roster. They are 9-6 overall. IPFW will face Ball State at Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
ABOUT UIC
The Flames enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-8. They picked up wins over Chicago State (7-0) and UW-Whitewater (4-3). They are 1-1 at home and 0-7 on the road.
Maurizio Feoli is 6-6 overall in singles competition and the team of Rahul Kamath and Alexander Raa hold a 7-6 record in doubles play.
ABOUT No. 50 MICHIGAN STATE
The Spartans will play at Ball State Saturday afternoon before traveling to Fort Wayne to play the Mastodons that night. Michigan State is currently ranked 50th with a 4-6 overall record including a 1-3 record on the road. The Spartans have lost four-straight heading into the weekend.
Gijs Linders has the best singles record on the team at 10-9. Drew Lied and Aaron Pfister have played the best tennis in doubles action. They have a record of 5-8. Pfister is currently ranked 97th.
The Mastodons will host an on-court clinic for kids of all ages this Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club.
