NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The IPFW men's tennis team ended their road trip with a 4-3 win over Niagara on Monday afternoon. The Mastodons are now 4-10 overall.
Niagara earned the first point of the day by winning two out of the three doubles matches. Connor Andrews and Martin Muadi earned an 8-6 win in No. 2 Doubles, but the Purple Eagles won the first match of the day 8-4 in No. 3 Doubles.
No. 1 Doubles was an extremely close match, but the tandem of Daniel Kang and Joao Freitas was defeated 9-8 giving the Purple Eagles a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.
With the match tied it came down to No. 6 Singles action for the win and Gerard Guell delivered with a 6-1, 6-2 win. Other winners on Monday included Kang who won 6-1, 6-3 in No. 1 Singles, Andres Cobos who won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 Singles, and Joao Freitas 6-2, 6-2 in No. 4 Singles.
