LUBBOCK, Texas - IPFW softball picked up its eighth win of the season with a 5-4 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Mastodons' first game of the Jeannie McHaney Memorial Classic, hosted by Texas Tech.

Larissa Franklin went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base - her ninth stolen base of the season and 36th of her career, the latter of those two numbers now equaling the career school record. Brittany Kachur and Ashleigh Bousquet each picked up two hits, while Dani Pugh drove in a pair of runs.

Miranda Kramer improved to 6-3 on the season, pitching the first six and two-thirds of an inning, before Megan Flenniken came in and closed the door for a one-out save, her first of the season.

Texas Tech jumped out quickly, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning, before IPFW rallied to tie the score in the top of the third frame. Ashleigh Bousquet knocked a one-out double, before twin sister Alex singled, putting runners on the corners. A Hillary Kartman walk loaded the bases, before Pugh hit a two-run single to right field, scoring each of the Bousquets. Kayti Hanson followed with a perfectly executed sacrifice squeeze, as the 'Dons tied the game at three runs apiece.

After the Red Raiders anwsered with a run in the bottom of the third, and held the lead until the Mastodons scored twice in the top of the fourth inning with back-to-back singles and a walk loading the bases for the second straight inning. Alex Bousquet hit into an RBI groundout scoring Franklin, before Kartman singled to left field for another RBI.

Neither team would score of the final three and a half innings, as the Mastodons held on for the one-run win.

Each of IPFW's five runs in the game came from a different player, while Alex Bousquet, Kartman, and Pugh each added a hit for IPFW who was 10-of-31 at the plate.

Kramer struck out six in 6.2 innings of work, scattering seven hits while allowing three earned runs and three walks. Flenniken intentionally walked one batter, before picking up the save with a groundout to the pitcher.

The Mastodons face off again against the Red Raiders in a 2:30 p.m. first pitch.
