LUBBOCK, Texas - The IPFW Mastodons split the second of three days at the 2013 Jeannie McHaney Memorial Classic, falling to the host Texas Tech Red Raiders 12-4 before topping UT-Arlington 3-1 in the evening finale.

Alex Bousquet went 2-for-5 on the day, while four others went 2-for-6. Dani Pugh drove in a team-best four RBI's on the day, while Ashleigh Bousquet chased home two, as Alex Bousquet scored three times.

In the opener against Texas Tech, the Red Raiders jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the first three innings, before IPFW cut into the gap with a pair of runs in the fourth inning when Ashleigh Bousquet and Alex Bousquet each hit solo home runs, cutting the scoring gap to 6-2.

A pair of one-run innings for the Red Raiders followed before Pugh hit a two-run double in the top of the sixth to close to within four at 8-4; however, Texas Tech scored four in the bottom of the sixth to give the game its 12-4 final score.

Alex Bousquet was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, while Dani Pugh drove in two. Megan Flenniken picked up the loss, pitching five innings and struck out two while giving up eight runs.

In the nightcap the 'Dons took a two-run lead when Pugh hit a one-out two-run home run to provide the eventual game-winning run.

IPFW added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Ashleigh Bousquet singled to center field, scoring Larissa Franklin.The Mavericks cut into the game with one run, but the three-run margin was too much to overcome in the 3-1 IPFW win.

IPFW had five hits in the game, from five different players, as Pugh drove in two.

Flenniken picked up the win, her second of the season, pitching the entire seven innings, scattering eight hits and giving up the solitary run while striking out nine.

The Mastodons return to action for two more games, against UT Arlington at 1 p.m. and against Troy at 3:30 p.m.
