IPFW Enters Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship as No. 4 Seed

2013 Summit League Tennis Championships
ELMHURST, Ill. – The IPFW men's tennis team defeated Western Illinois 5-2 on Sunday to earn the No. 4 seed in the 2013 Summit League Men's Tennis Championship which will be hosted by IPFW at the Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center this weekend with semifinal action on Friday, April 26 and the championship match scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
Kansas City, which collected its fourth consecutive regular season title, went 5-0 in Summit League competition to earn the No. 1 seed. The Kangaroos has won five consecutive matches for an 11-10 overall mark.
South Dakota State is the No. 2 seed, the highest in school history, after posting a 4-1 league record. The Jackrabbits enter the tournament riding a five-match win streak and have won eight of their last 10.
Matching up against SDSU is No. 3 seed IUPUI, which is seeking its first Summit League Tournament championship after finishing as runner-up each of the past two seasons. The Jaguars went 2-3 in the Summit League.
The No. 4 seed is IPFW, which also serves as tournament host. The Mastodons won their final regular season match to finish with a 2-3 league record and earn their third Summit League Tournament berth.
Of the four tournament teams, only Kansas City has won a Summit League Men's Tennis Tournament title. The Kangaroos have won five championships, including each of the past two.
Men's semifinal play begins Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m. (ET) with Kansas City facing IPFW. The South Dakota State vs. IUPUI match is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday's winners will meet in Saturday's 10 a.m. championship match for an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
