
Tennis Looks for Wins Record in Mid-Week Pair

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team, which tied the school record for wins in a season on Saturday against IUPUI, will look to etch its name at the top of the record book on Tuesday, when the team hosts the Valparaiso Crusaders and Grace Lancers in back-to-back matches.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons have won their last five matches, and eight of the last nine, and are 12-5 on the season with a perfect 3-0 record in Summit League play.
Leading the way for the singles side of the lineup is the career leader in wins at IPFW at the top of the lineup in Daniel Kang (17-9 overall), and two others - Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi - who are looking for their 20th victories of the season. Kang has played in the No. 1 spot all 17 singles matches in the spring, while Guell is 7-1 at No. 3 and 6-3 at No. 4, as Muadi has gotten the majority of his singles wins at the No. 5 position where he is 9-3. Karl Wangensten-Oye is 14-9, including 12-2 at No. 6, with Andres Cobos sitting just under .500 at 12-14 overall.
In doubles, the pair of Kang and Cobos are 17-9, including an 11-6 record in the spring season, while Guell and Muadi have teamed up to a 10-5 record at No. 2 pairs this spring.

Leading the team in singles play with a 14-2 mark is Jeffrey Schorsch at No. 1 singles. Seven different players have at least 10 singles wins on the year, including a 19-7 overall record from Dave Bacalla, who is 9-4 at No. 2 singles in the spring. Charlie Emhardt is 18-3 on the year, while Kyle Dunn is 17-8.
In doubles, the pair of Emhardt and Jeffrey Schorsch is 13-1, including 11-1 at No. 2 doubles, as Dave Bacalla and Daniel Oakes are 9-4 at No. 1 pairs.
