
Men's Tennis Competes in Split Venue Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's tennis team takes to the road for the first time in 2015 to compete against the Valparaiso Crusaders on January 30, before returning home for a January 31 meeting with the Youngstown State Penguins.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Valparaiso comes into the Friday meeting with a 1-0 record following a 5-2 win over Toledo in the spring opener.
This season the Crusaders are led by a pair of players with double-figure wins, including Charlie Emhardt who is 13-2 (1-0 in the spring) and Garrett Gardner (10-2, 1-0 spring). Two other players, Michael Savaglio (9-4) and Jeffrey Schorsch (9-3, 1-0 spring) are on the cusp of a double-figure win season.
In doubles, the Crusaders are 41-19 on the year, a win percentage of 68.3%. Emhardt and Schorch are a combined 11-3, but are just 0-1 in the spring. Overall, Valparaiso doubles teams are just 1-2.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
Youngstown State is 0-2 on the young season, with losses to Ohio State (7-0 and Duquesne (5-2).
Remi Chancerel is 11-4 this season, including 1-1 in the spring, while Dawoud Kabli has picked up the team's only other singles win at No. 4. This season the Penguins are 32-51 (.386) in singles action.
The Penguins have yet to win a singles match this spring, and are led this year by a 4-2 mark from Chancerel and Silviu Mistreanu.
