Softball Kicks off 2016 Season in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The IPFW softball team kicks off the 2016 season, the second under head coach Germaine Fairchild, in Charleston, South Carolina, for the Charleston Southern Tournament. The Mastodons face Georgetown, Towson, and Charleston Southern over the course of four games in two days.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW heads into the Charleston Southern Tournament under the leadership of second-year head coach Germaine Fairchild. The team will see several new faces in the starting lineup needing to replace four starters from a 2015 team that went 3-45 and finished seventh in The Summit League.
The 'Dons return six letterwinners from a season ago, including Jenna Balthazor who was the lone Mastodon to start in all 48 games a season ago. Emily Olszewski and Caitlyn DeLong return after missing the last part of the season due to injuries. Joining Olszewski with senior leadership are outfielder Taylor Gordy Prescott and pitcher Sarah Lazarowich. IPFW will also have last season's leading home run hitter in Kelly Pevely back in the lineup.
The roster will feature 10 new players, including six transfers, and four true freshmen.
