Kelly Pevely led the 'Dons against Georgetown, going 2-for-4 at the plate and scoring twice. Amber Davis drove in a pair of runs while finishing 1-for-3 on the day. Emily Olszewski also went 1-for-3 while coming around to score twice.
The opening game started off as a pitcher's duel between the Mastodons and Hoyas before the two sides scored all off their runs in the final three innings. Georgetown got on the board first with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. IPFW answered back with four runs in the top of the fifth. A pair of Hoya errors led to the first Mastodon runs before Murray singled to left, bringing home Davis.
Georgetown responded with four runs of its own on four hits in the bottom of the fifth. Once again the 'Dons had an answer in the sixth as Davis delivered a two out, two-run double to score Pevely and Olszewski. The Hoyas broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning, scoring six of their seven runs with two outs.
Sarah Lazarowich took the loss in the circle for the Mastodons, allowing 11 runs, seven earned, over 5 2-3 innings. Elizabeth Snodgrass came on to record the final out but allowed two runs.
In the nightcap, IPFW jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly from Murray that allowed Sierra Miranda to score. Charleston Southern answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning and added another in the third before play was halted.
IPFW will also face Towson at 9 a.m., before a second game against Charleston Southern at 1 p.m.
