FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW will host non-league opponent Indiana University South Bend on Wednesday, April 27, at 3 p.m. at Mastodon Field in Fort Wayne. The Mastodons have won six of their last eight games for an overall record of 19-21, while the visiting Titans were 19-25 prior to a doubleheader against Roosevelt University on Tuesday (April 26).

IPFW will send senior right-handed pitcher Kyle Orwig to the mound for the starting assignment against IU South Bend. He has made four consecutive mid-week starts for the Mastodons, earning two wins along with a pair of no-decisions, though IFPW won both games. Orwig has made 10 appearances overall, making six starts with a 2-2 overall record and a 4.94 earned run average through 31.0 innings with 19 strikeouts.
IPFW will look to provide offensive support from seniors Brandon Soat and Kendall Whitman, redshirt-sophomore Brock Logan, redshirt-seniors Greg Kaiser and Shane Trevino, junior Jackson Boyce along with senior Jonathan Valenzuela-Reece. Soat is hitting .305 with three home runs, eight doubles and 22 RBIs. Whitman is hitting .301 with one home run, seven doubles and 17 RBIs. Logan is hitting .277 with three home runs, seven doubles and 20 RBIs. Kaiser is hitting .271 with nine home runs, 12 doubles and 24 RBIs. Trevino is hitting .268 with 10 home runs, five doubles and 29 RBIs. Boyce is hitting .252 with two home runs, seven doubles and 10 RBIs. Valenzuela-Reece is hitting .244 with two home runs, two doubles and 17 RBIs.
Wednesday's action against IU South Bend marks the final non-league home game this season for IPFW. The Mastodons still have remaining home series against Summit League members Omaha (April 29-30), North Dakota State (May 14-15) and Western Illinois (May 19-21).
