Caitlyn DeLong led the 'Dons on the day going 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. Jessica Murray added two hits, including a home run of her own, and four RBIs. Sydney Windlan and Lauren Watson each collected two hits.
Dayton came out with 10 runs in the bottom of the first, aided by two Fort Wayne errors. The Flyers added four more runs in the second. The Mastodons got on the scoreboard in the fourth. A walk by Kelly Pevely and double from Murray led to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brooke Imel, scoring pinch runner Courtney Holm.
The 'Dons batted around in the top of the fifth as DeLong led off the inning by connecting on her second home run of the season, a solo shot to left center. Back-to-back hits by Watson and Windlan were followed by a double from Pevely, scoring another run. Murray stepped in and took a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield wall for a 3-run shot, her first homer of the season. Fort Wayne put runners on second and third after a single and a hit batter, but was unable to extend the game.
In the circle, Olivia White took the loss, throwing 1 1-3 innings. Elizabeth Snodgrass came on for the final 2 2-3 shutout innings, allowing no runs on three hits.
Miami led off the nightcap with a three-run home run in the top of the first. The RedHawks added three more runs in the second and two in the third as Fort Wayne scored twice in the bottom of the third. With one out, a Miami error was followed by a single from Windlan, and Pevely was hit by a pitch. Murray brought home Watson on a sacrifice fly to right before a single to left by DeLong closed out the inning.
The RedHawks added two more runs in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth as the Mastodons were unable to prolong the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Bailey Benefiel suffered the loss on the mound while pitching a complete game with five strikeouts.
