It was a 3-2 game entering the seventh when South Dakota State ended the game thanks to a nine-run seventh inning.
Jackson Boyce went 3-of-4 with two doubles and an RBI. He also had a stolen base. It was his double that started a two-run fifth inning for the Mastodons. Boyce and Zak Kellogg would both score in the frame to make it a 3-2 score.
Jordan Martin suffered the loss. He is 1-4 after allowing three runs in 5.0 innings. Austin Kost is now 1-4 for South Dakota State. He started and allowed just the two runs in 5.1 innings of work.
Fort Wayne falls to 5-19 (1-7 Summit). The Jackrabbits improve to 12-10 (5-3 Summit). The two clubs will conclude the series on Sunday.
