'Dons Fall Short To Butler 9-5

Trevor Armstrong started for the Mastodons and worked a strong first two innings before hitting trouble in the third, giving up five runs (three earned). He would get the loss for the 'Dons after 3.2 innings of work. He is now 0-3. Butler starter Joe Graziano earned his first decision of the season, not allowing a run in 4.0 innings.
The 'Dons rallied back in the game with single runs in the fifth and sixth and then three runs in the seventh. Snyder had a solo home run in the seventh to make the score 6-3. Later in the inning Hettinger came to the plate with Shannon Baker on third and Travis Upp on first. Hettinger dropped a triple just inside the right field foul line to make it a 6-5 game. It stayed 6-5 until the ninth when Butler added three insurance runs.
Snyder and Hettinger each had two hits. Hettinger finished with three runs batted in. Baker scored twice in the contest. Spencer Strobel, Brian Skelton, Dalton Huffman and Duane Miller each had scoreless outings from the pen for the 'Dons.
Garrett Christman finished with three hits for the Bulldogs.
Butler improves to 19-8. Fort Wayne falls to 6-21. The 'Dons are back in action on Friday at Oral Roberts.
